Neuromuscular Massage Therapist, Tim Newman

About tim...

Tim Newman, originally from Deshler, NE. earned his certificate in massage therapy from Dr. Welbes’ College of Massage Therapy in 1992.  After completing additional seminars about how the nervous system has effects on the muscular and skeletal systems, Tim became certified in neuromuscular massage therapy (CNMT) in 1999 and was one of the first in Nebraska to have completed certification.  Tim chose the specialized profession after he personally experienced the benefits of neuromuscular massage to alleviate the pain from an injury that doctors could not relieve without medication.  Tim is also a member of the American Massage Therapist Association (AMTA).

Tim’s experience includes six and half years working with physical therapists at Hruska Physical Therapy.  This close working relationship taught Tim many techniques in aiding range of motion and functional kinesiology.  Tim also trained with the experts at the Postural Restorative Institute (PRI) and incorporates many of those concepts into his treatment plans. Tim instructs clients in ways to change daily patterns to provide pain reduction.  Tim maintains collegial relationships with several chiropractors, spinal and neurological physicians, and mental health counselors.

Tim recently completed his personal training certification through the National Association of Sports Medicine. Tim incorporates this knowledge into his practice by educating clients about proper technique, form, and exercise programs to prevent injury, maintain physical wellness, and restore strength. This wholistic approach is a distinct aspect of Tim's practice and the city of Lincoln.

Newmans Massage Therapist, Janae

Janae Klassen, originally from Humphrey NE, always knew she wanted to be a massage therapist. Her interest in massage therapy as a career was solidified during her junior year of high school when her mom was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis (MG), a neuromuscular disorder that causes draped weakness in the skeletal muscles. Janae witnessed the significant benefits that massage therapy had on her mother's condition first hand.

Janae pursued her dream by attending the Myotherapy Massage Institute where she met Tim in her neuromuscular massage class. Janae immediately found herself intrigued, and loved learning about the nerve pulses and how working other muscles that are fed by the same nerve root improved the original symptom.  Janae joined Newman Neuromuscular Massage in January 2016.

At the Myotherapy Massage Institute, Janae studied Swedish massage, Deep Tissue, myofascial therapy and Neuromuscular therapy and graduated in August of 2015 with an Associate’s Degree in Chiropractic Massage. Janae earned her license in December 2015.

Janae’s provides a unique massage for every client who walks through her door. She uses a mixture of deep tissue, myofascial release, and neuromuscular techniques to help clients feel better. Borrowing from Tim's approach, Janae seeks to determine what is causing an individual's pain and works those muscles accordingly.  When doing a massage, Janae is determined to clients as much as she possibly can.

Janae's philosophy of massage therapy is wholistic and centers on prevention. One of Janae's clients once likened their monthly massage appointment to the intentional care he provided to his car with a regular oil change--just as we take care of our cars, we need to take care of our bodies. This analogy range true for Janae and she is committed to helping clients maintain their bodies. She often shows her clients home exercises to help them work towards homeostasis.

Janae books approximately 70 minutes to complete a massage, allowing plenty of time to complete the therapeutic work she feels is needed
